I
knew Steven Keetley although I had never met him in person.
In the early days of the Internet, Steven and I had a few occasions to meet via
e-mail, online chat programs and just once by telephone.
He was in the mode of connecting to Alan's computer and fixing
things and so forth from afar.
I remember when he moved to the Philippines and I remember Alan talking to me
about the move.
Life was busy for all of us - the Internet was new, Steven was building a
company, Alan and Margaret were living life and preparing for retirement.
I had just changed jobs I believe when I heard the news about Steven,"
I was aware of his marriage and children because Alan was busy sending pictures
around to all of us quite frequently.
Stunned isn't the right word to describe my reaction when I heard the news of
his death. It was more like a sickness in the pit of your stomach queasy feeling that stayed a great while.
As the news unfolded and we were made aware of the circumstances surrounding the event, that feeling was replaced by others of terrible sadness.
Richard
Wagner hails from Germany and is the bass guitarist for Double Trouble a hard
rocking
blues band who has opened for many name acts.
Richard sports a 1978 Fender
Precision Bass.
Rich has been on many recordings with Dave going back to 1999 beginning with
the now legendary tune "River of Dreams" which featured German vocalist Michael Keuter
on the original version and ex- Uriah Heep vocalist John Lawton on the 2nd
version which was featured on the now out of print "Heepsteria".
Richard cites his influences as Trevor Bolder, Jack Bruce and Phil Lynott.
I
met Alan and Margaret a number of years ago and there was this instant
friendship growing between us.
Slowly I got to hear from the horrible things that happened to their son,
Steven.
Margaret wrote her book about the murder, “ For the Love of My Son” and since
then I became more aware of
what a blow it must have been that came upon this family.
I met Steven’s two children, Jessica and Josh, who are growing up fast and
beautiful.
Through the years that followed, we got closer friends and when I heard from
Alan, that he was making a website about
Steven, as a tribute to this fine young man, I got the idea of writing a song to
put on that website. I called it “Underneath the Asian Moon” as it was there
that it happened that night.
I regret I never met Steven, I just know we would have been friends too. He was
a nice man, always there to help, that’s what I learned from talking to people
who were close to him.
In Josh and Jessica, Steven will live on, also in Margaret and Alan and all who
knew him and learned to know about him after his dead.
Steven, this one is for you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Bob Dreher has been involved with Dave White and Heepster related music from just about the beginning.
Starting with trading tapes back and forth with Dave, it soon spread to many recordings and a wonderful relationship with many fine musicians and fellow Heepsters.
Bob will be writing and doing backing vocals for this tune.
"Special as it is, we will be putting forward our best efforts.
God Bless Alan & Margaret & especially Steven."
